Camp Hope at Camp for All

Established 26 years ago, Camp Hope was the first summer camp for children living with HIV in Texas. Camp Hope serves these kids and their siblings, ages 7 to 16, from marginalized and underserved communities across several states in the South. At camp, these amazing kids are given the opportunity to develop life, education, work, and other important skills that are needed to help manage a life living with HIV. They are also given the chance to run, play, and laugh in a safe, healthy, and secure environment with other youth like them.

To learn more, or if you are a medical provider interested in signing up campers, please contact:

Supportive Housing

Allies in Hope offers eight housing programs, providing safe affordable living and supportive services to individuals and families vulnerable to homelessness and impacted by mental health, substance misuse, HIV, and those at higher risk of acquiring HIV.

To help individuals develop a stable, healthy, and productive future, all housing programs provide case management, as well as community and social support. Our comprehensive assistance model includes individualized plans to address financial stability, resolve family issues, mental health counseling, substance abuse treatment, and guidance on how to obtain other medical and social services.

We have housing communities designed to serve the needs of:

  • T.E.X.T.M.S.G. - Homeless youth ages 18-24 regardless of HIV status.
  • Help House Apartments - Individuals or couples experiencing housing and financial instability where one or both are living with HIV.
  • A Friendly Haven - Families with one or more members that are living with HIV and experiencing housing and financial instability.
  • Burress Street Apartments - Homeless cis-gender and transgender women living with HIV.
  • HOME NOW - Literal homeless individuals living or not living with HIV who may also have disabilities.
  • HOME BASE – Housing designed to provide supportive housing over 36 months for 30 persons living with HIV.
  • Bridge ReEntry Initiative (BRI) - A short-term/transitional HOPWA housing program designed for recently released individuals who are living with HIV. Clients are also managed through the Somebody Cares program.
  • 1st Responders - A “housing-first” permanent housing program for chronically homeless adults with permanent disabilities. The goal of First Responders is to increase stability and self-sufficiency among individuals.

Allies in Hope offers three other HOPWA- related programs that serves individuals and their families living with HIV who are low income or in jeopardy of becoming homeless.

  • Short-Term (STRMU) – A program providing short-term rent, mortgage, and utility payments for households experiencing a financial crisis or a change in their economic circumstances. STRMU provides 21 weeks of services within a 52-week period. The household must already be housed and show proof of a recent short-term emergency that jeopardizes housing stability.
  • Tenant-Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) – A program designed to assist households who are housed or homeless. To receive TBRA services, households must present evidence of current or imminent tenancy in the private unassisted housing market. TBRA alleviates the rent burden of low-income households. TBRA provides an ongoing and portable rental subsidy that helps households obtain or maintain permanent housing.
  • Permanent Housing Placement (PHP) – This financial assistance program helps households access, secure, and establish a permanent residence, maintained either on their own or with the help of ongoing rental assistance.

Incarcerated/Recently Released Outreach and Services

Education about HIV empowers individuals to stay healthy. Often, some of the most vulnerable populations have the least access to high-quality resources about HIV. Our prison education programs solve this problem by equipping incarcerated individuals with the knowledge they need to lead sexually healthy lives. We offer the following programs to currently incarcerated and recently released individuals.

Wall Talk

A peer-based education program for currently incarcerated individuals. This program focuses on HIV, STIs and sexual violence, providing attendees with the tools they need to make informed decisions regarding their sexual health, both during and post-incarceration.

Somebody Cares

A peer-based program designed to help individuals plan for living with HIV after their release. We provide access to post-release resources and services that increase adherence to treatment and medication.

Medical Transportation Assistance Program

Allies in Hope offers non-emergency gas and travel vouchers (based on availability) for eligible clients in the Bridge to Reentry Program (BRI).

Client appointments can be related to doctor's visits, including specialty care, substance, and mental health services, pharmacy, case management, and food pantry services. We want to encourage consistent access to essential, qualifying appointments and needed assistance through this transportation assistance..
